The cord fell off and this is what it left behind. I know the pic us blurry but does it look normal? Can’t remember how Gatito’s looked but I don’t think it was this weird. Checkup on Wednesday.

Looks a bit swollen – have the doctor check it out. Maybe a little inflammation–something like that.
When Aaron’s cord fell off, his looked like that, too. I took him to the pediatrician and he put a tiny bit of silver nitrate on it just to seal it up and prevent infection. I think it is pretty common. If it seems swollen or red, I would take her first thing tomorrow morning.

Yep. My daughter’s looked like that when it fell off too. The ped was unconcerned, but it did bleed every now and again for a few days (which had not happened with my son). Call your doc for reassurance.

That’s what happened to T’s cord. We had to keep putting rubbing alcohol on it for weeks to try to dry it out. That’s what our pediatrician told us to do. If it’s healthy looking, and it looks fine at this point, it’s okay. Here’s what I wrote about T’s cord.
