Galloping Cats

Ahem December 1, 2007

Filed under: Going for #2,Second Thoughts — gallopingcats @ 11:17 pm

I had this whole list of things I wanted to blog about, well-thought-out reasons not to have a second child. I even wrote it down. But… somehow I don’t feel like it anymore. Which is convenient, since I had my annual exam on Thursday and got to ask all my IUI questions.

First things first: Our close friends moved to Switzerland. They have an extra bedroom and we have air miles and there is no way I’m passing up an opportunity to ski in Switzerland for practically free. But when we get back…

I call the office on the first day of my period to get them to set things up with the lab. Then I use an OPK and when it turns positive, I go in the next day, A provides the sample, they clean and insert it, I lie there for half an hour, start Crinone that night, repeat the next day, then wait to see what happens. Sounds easy, right?

Now I just have to hope the gods don’t fuck with me for 1) thinking of not trying to have a second child and 2) thinking that I have control over this conception thing and putting off trying in order to take a vacation.

Thinking about if you want a second child is a good thing, even if you know in your heart what the answer will be.

    Good luck.

    Best of luck to you!

It’s always good to give a little thought to these things…and it’s also good to take the opportunity to travel whenever possible. I hear that Switzerland is gorgeous!

  4. I hope this turns out to be the best plunge you ever took!

Sounds like a great trip. I can’t wait to be on “symptom watch 08″ for you! This is going to be great. Wouldn’t it be a different world we live in if everyone was to take the consideration to have children seriously? Well, I know for sure I wouldn’t be here, but you know what I mean.

If the gods are going to fuck with anyone, it’s gonna be me. Have fun skiing in Switzerland! (I’m so jealous!) Can’t wait to hear about all of it … the trip and the trying for #2!!!!

I spent a week in Switzerland in college and even though I had to do it the Poor Man’s Way (hostels, cheap food), the views and the beauty absolutely made up for it. An amazing country and SO CLEAN.

It did shock me to go to the bathroom on a train and realize that the toilet just opened up onto the tracks. Interesting.
