The lease is up on my car later this month, so I went in to test drive a new one this morning. I require a car large enough for me to feel like I have a shot in hell against those monster SUVs on the road, but other than that, the only luxury feature I need is a sunroof… once you get used to a sunroof, going without is pure clausrophobic hell.
After the drive,we sat down to talk numbers and after that, I let the guy know I’d get back to him. Do you know what he said? He said, when you’re showing your husband the numbers, make sure he knows that the premium package has much more than just the sunroof. Like I had to go home and convince my husband to buy the car for me, automatically assuming it was not my decision.
You know what, though? That’s fine. Let him think I’m a dumb woman. Just wait until he sees me negotiate.
Monday update: If I’ve negotiated to the point that the alternative dealer is accusing the original dealer of being a liar and a cheat, have I gotten the lowest price? Heh.

I have the misfortune of personally knowing some car salespeople, and I would be almost certain that he KNEW that comment would piss you off, and hoped to get you to act on your immediate emotional reaction and buy the car right there.
