Yahoo! Maps bites the big one. I first realized this when we went to a wedding in Baltimore a couple of years ago and it directed us to get off the highway and wend our way through the entire city, including the less savory neighborhoods, till we arrived at our hotel by the harbor… and right next to another exit off that very same highway. A forgot that lesson and printed directions from there to get to his cousin’s wedding yesterday. After about 3 hours, we were within 10 miles of the place, but we never found Exit 14. Next thing we knew, we were near his parents’ house and they hadn’t left, so we stopped by to get their directions. By this point we are both hysterical, I’m crying and sort of half laughing, but mostly crying. (Can I blame this on the progesterone?)
A brought the clothes into the house but I said I’d rather get to the hotel and change there, so off we went again. 45 minutes later he wonders if he put the clothes back in the car… he didn’t but thank GOD his brother found them just before the walked out of the house. By the time they arrive, we’ve got 10 minutes to throw on our clothes and rush over to the ceremony. Fun times. All in, it took nearly 6 hours to make the 3.5 hour trip. Good thing we left early…
Possibly the worst part was that I actually convinced A to ask for directions at a gas station (hysterical crying did it, in case you were wondering) and the guy didn’t have a fucking clue. Now I’ll never get him to ask directions ever again.
Edited to say: A says I got the story wrong and that I had not yet
started crying hysterically when he agreed to stop for directions. It
was only that I was threatening to do so and he was trying to prevent
this. Joke’s on him since it all ended in hysterical tears anyway.
Seriously, can I blame this on the progesterone?
I did not use another FRED this morning. My period seems to be here. Sort of. Pretty much. I think it’s been trying to come every night since Thursday and then I stick another progesterone suppository up there and it stops it for 24 more hours. It’s clotty and it makes me think I will not use the progesterone next time. I think the doctor only gave it to me so that I could feel like I was doing something, since my luteal phase is not less than ten days and since, in cases where there is a luteal phase/progesterone defect, the miscarriage happens before 6 weeks and mine was after 7. At the time I thought, no harm no fowl, I will use it, but now I’m not so sure.
In any case, please no expressions of sympathy. I don’t want to make this into more than what it is: I peed on a few sticks, had sex at the appointed time, and didn’t get pregnant. It’s disappointing, but it would be unreasonable to make this into more than that. Better luck next time.
I noticed that the prog. supps seemed to all cling together and make themselves pretty scary. Hope that didn’t happen to you too. Or were you taking it orally and I missed that?
If you don’t have luteal phase defect and you are doing natural cycles, then you really do not need the progesterone. It will only do what it just did–delay your period and play with your mind. Who needs that? All of us who are trying to have a baby are crazy enough as it is.
I’ve been off the progesterone for a week now and I am still having crappy side effects from it. So glad to have that phase over with.
Wow. What a wild ride to the wedding. I hate Yahoo and MapQuest. Both have sent me on wild goose chases. I learned my lesson, now I just ask the people. Glad you were able to hook up with A’s parents though.
No sympathy from me, I promise. Just a better luck next time!
I can’t believe the doc didn’t tell you progesterone could delay your period. What a knucklehead. It sounds like you’re keeping your chin up, which is a great accomplishment amidst suckiness. Good luck with your next try.
No sympathy, but instead best wishes for the next cycle! And yes, progesterone will not only make you feel very pregnant but will keep your period away until you stop taking it. Sorry to hear about the drive to the wedding (I hope you enjoyed it at least a little bit!)?
